Canudoca, the compostable strawPoster for the “Aqui o seu canudo vira adubo” (“Here your straw becomes compost”) campaign

The plastic straw stands for everything that is unsustainable about our way of life. A single-use straw requires oil to be extracted, is used just once, and is then thrown away into the environment, polluting land and water for thousands of years and putting animals and plants at risk. Let's put an end to this!

See who is taking part!

Instituto Ecozinha launched the campaign “Aqui o seu canudo vira adubo” (“Here your straw becomes compost”), introducing “Canudoca,” the compostable straw made from cassava, corn and palm oil, now available at Brasília's leading restaurants, bars and hotels.

After use, Canudoca becomes organic compost in our composting yards, nourishing new plants and healthy food!

A compostable straw is FAR better than a “biodegradable” one, which is little more than a way of saying it is less bad than plastic!

The campaign will support Instituto Ecozinha in building the logistics to collect organic waste and send it for processing at the Institute's partner composting yards. We are creating a new, sustainable world and a new reality!

Show your support by visiting one of the Institute's member establishments and donating one Brazilian real for Canudoca!
